The adventurists have asked us to pledge at least $500 of the money we make to Cool Earth, who is their chosen charity. We are only too happy to oblige seeing as they are doing some pretty cool stuff.
In their own words here is their mission:
"We know that saving the rainforest isn’t a new idea. Managing to do it is.
Over the last 40 years, half the world’s rainforests have been destroyed. That’s why cool earth decided to go about things differently. We don’t create reserves or put up fences. We don’t buy land. Instead, we put indigenous people back in control of the world’s most endangered rainforest.
These people have lived in the forest for countless generations. Their homes are now on the frontline of deforestation. They have the most to lose from deforestation.By building better incomes, better schools and better clinics, we give our partner villages the resources they need to keep their forest intact.
Cool earth is now working alongside 65 rainforest villages throughout the world. These partner villages are protecting 330,000 acres of forest that lie directly in the path of chainsaws and bulldozers. The clever part is that this forest is forming a shield to make the neighbouring forest inaccessible to loggers – saving millions of acres of further forest.
At least 90% of each donation to cool earth goes directly to our projects. With this support, cool earth can put in place the simple steps that change the fate of at-risk rainforest and the lives of our indigenous partners"

We took the executive decision to not solely raise money for cool earth, but to also try and give something back to our own community in Hampshire. Therefore we looked into some charities and have decided to raise money for Wave 105's Cash for Kids.
Cash for Kids runs across the Country, but seeing as Wave 105 is a local radio station we are supporting them specifically. The three of us have been fortunate enough to partake in this adventure and hope that any funds raised will allow children within the Hampshire region to do things they want to.
Wave 105 say
"We are committed to supporting local children under the age of 18, who are financially, socially, emotionally or physically disadvantaged. Additionally to encourage healthy lifestyle options by promoting physical, mental and general wellbeing of children and adolescents specifically within the Wave 105 region.
We firmly believe in this day and age no child should go without their basic needs being met, food, clothes, education, health needs, guidance and support for their future. We want to encourage children to participate in activities outside of school that can engage, spark their imaginations, and help increase their self confidence through art, music, or any sport they are passionate about. We will provide grants to individuals as well as other charities to help ensure the specific needs of children across the region are met."

The Rickshaw Run isn't all about us going wild and being reckless. We are doing it for charity and have promised $500 each to our charities. Here is a bit about them.
